Pet Play

” Role play in which humans adopt an animalistic persona and express some of their behavioral traits. “

This can take many forms – from simply enjoying the mental headspace of an animal to wearing specific gear and interacting with others also in character.

What to do?

When you pass by us in the street,

there is no reason to be afraid.

We are simply expressing who we truly are,

just as everyone does in their own way.

Come say hello, with a smile

Feel free to send a compliment

You can offer us a good pat behind the head

All these simple gestures make our day!

Many of us will be happy to answer your questions

Introducing Pet Play to younger crowds

Simplicity is often the key

“This person really enjoys dressing up as an animal. Personifying an animal is his/her/their way of having fun, just like you sometimes pretend when you dress up. It’s just for fun and to reconnect with the playfulness of a child.”

Taking it further

“In pet play, the costumes and games that are done in the street and in the park can amuse you and or attract your curiosity. You may find it strange at first and that’s understandable because it’s not something you see often. This may look out of the ordinary, but it remains a normal part of the practice which is harmless, entirely social and you can come observe to discover more.”

“A child could dress up as Batman and enjoy part of his universe without necessarily being able to go see the latest movie at the cinema which is intended for a different age group. Also, just like Batman, in pet play, there are parts of the game that are accessible to you and other parts that are more appropriate for adults (which you will understand better when you reach adulthood yourself).”
